About the Author

David Greenwood is Emeritus Professor of Antimicrobial Science at the University of Nottingham Medical School, having been Professor for 16 years. He has written, edited and contributed to many books in the field of Antimicrobial Science. Peter Davey is current President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Professor of Pharmoeconomics at the University of Dundee and Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases, Tayside University Hospitals. Professor Roger Finch has authored more than 300 papers covering the fields of antimicrobial chemotherapy, lower respiratory tract infections and the pathogenesis of staphylococcal disease. He is currently European Editor of Current Opinion in Infectious Diseases and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Professor Mark Wilcox is Professor of Medical Microbiology at the University of Leeds, and is a Medical Microbiology Consultant. He is the Clinical Director of Pathology and the Director of Infection Prevention and Control for The Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

He has been featured in CIO Magazine for his concept of vendor relationship management and he has authored articles on contract negotiations and patent law. He is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, received a Masters from George Washington University Commercial Contract Management Program, and is a summa cum laude graduate of Saint Leo University. Mr. Guth holds the following certifications: Certified Purchasing Manager, Certified Technology Procurement Executive, Certified Commercial Contract Manager, and Fellow of the Life Management Institute. Mr. Guth also served in the military under the United States Special Operations Command. Mr. Guth is a frequent speaker at purchasing-related industry events, and also provides training on various topics in purchasing.

Great Concept, Great Book

I have worked with the author, Stephen Guth, and I can say for a fact that his Vendor Management Office concept works. His main objective is to drive value-add from vendors, and cost savings are much lower on the priority scale. However, in the process, I have witnessed him negotiate big savings. Even better, both parties feel like the deal was fair and equitable. Ultimately, the vendor is comitted to making the relationship work and delivers. Whether you're familiar with the VMO concept or not, this is a great book with actionable steps that you can take to create or refine a VMO. There's really no fluff in the book, but Stephen does take some shots at traditional purchasing departments, so that makes the book a little on the controversial side.

Great Guide for Strategic Sourcing

As a procurement professional that practices day-in and day-out, I can say with confidence that this book will provide the reader with tremendously valuable information. Learn vendor tricks and how to respond to them with some tricks of your own. The author, Stephen Guth, also did a great job of weaving in some humor to keep things light and interesting. I highly recommend this book to any procurement or contract professional out there.

Great book ..............

First, my degrees are in Pscyhology and Sociology, but we had not studied Borderline Personality Disorders. However, when my wife was diagnosed as being borderline, they suggested this book. I would have sworn, they followed her around and just made notes as they wrote the book. The accuracy of the issues, problems, behaviors, etc.... were spot on. Ironcially, all of the things they suggest in how to handle a borderline, were what I was doing. It reinforced to keep doing them, which did help over the long run. It can be hell, and this helped me understand it much better. It also helps people keep their "perspective" about things, and to not get sucked in at the same time.

It should be mandatory reading for anyone dealing with a person who has a borderline personality disorder.

Absolutely Love This-1 of the Few REAL BPD Books

I've been diagnosed with BPD and (c)PTSD since i was in my teens. and over, and over, and then once more. this is one of the few books on BPD i actually really like, or love even, because it actually talks about borderline as it REALLY is.

we are not evil people, nor are we narcissistic.

this book is perfect -to me- because they don't make BPD into a "walking on egg shells" issue. which it may be to some family and friends, but, i (most bpd) try to go over the top and beyond for others in a good way. we fear rejection and the most simple (to you) things such as eye movement at "wrong" (to me) time can mean rejection and fear, thus the wall falls and anger is my wall.

there is so much more detail to who we are, i am not the spokesman for BPD but speaking for myself there are so many things i wish i could do and/or change about who i am both within BPD and outside of it. i don't wish to be like this, and i think this book shows very well the reasons and gives amazing details and comparisons so non-BPD people can hopefully understand us a bit more.

This was suggested to me by a counselor. My wife and I went to a marriage counselor 4 times before she stopped going because it wasn't her priority. I recently started going back to the counselor on my own in an attempt to get advise on how to communicate and interact with my wife when she has sudden and unexplained outbursts of anger, irrational accusations and contradicting arguments. I just finished reading the book and was amazed at how similar the content was to what I have been subjected to and experiencing.

The chapter discussing how to communicate with a BPD person was very informative and I've attepted to apply the method but my wife insists everyone is ganging up on her, stabbing her in the back and that she can't trust anyone... even me. She refuses to acept any responsiblity for her behavior.

One thing that has become very clear to me after reading this book is that until a BPD person acepts responsibility for the things they say and do and that it's not everyone else, it will always be a struggle. My greatest fear is the potential impact on our daughters as they grow up and witness their mother's unexplained outbursts.

Very informative and worth reading for anyone who is on the receiving end of unexplained and unpredictable outbursts of anger/rage, unexplained accusations, manipulative comments, and attempts to make you feel like you're always the problem.

Like being in a 2 week long episode of Breaking Bad. I couldn't put it down.

One of the hardest things to do when trying to get a message across to an addict is to speak in a language they understand. This book seems to transcend conventional storytelling and speak straight to the addict. From the early pages the reader is put, quite literally, in the drivers seat. I have never read a book where I was so clearly convinced that I was a part of the story, and was so anxious to see what would happen next. The characters were so real I felt like all of my senses were stimulated every time I sat down to read a few more days of the story. I could practically hear the sounds of the street and smell the desperation. It will speak to you through the eyes of an addict, in a way that anyone can understand, but no one will be expecting. All throughout the story I found encouraging words of wisdom and hope that never come off as pushy, but rather show that there is another way, and an easier way to live. This story definitely took me down an exciting and enlightening path I wasn't expecting. I will absolutely recommend it to anyone who struggles with addiction, whether the addiction belongs to them or just someone they care about.

Let me start by saying that once I picked up this book, the only time I put it down was to go to sleep. The story that Mark tells is beyond suspenseful, terrifying, and brutally honest. It truly gives an accurate description into an addicts life and the grip that drugs have on a person. My heart pounded as I turned the pages, I often felt like I was in the car with them living this nightmare. Ride or die is a book that I will most definitely be recommending to my friends and family. If you are struggling to understand the mind of an addict, I truly think this book can help navigate what life is truly like for them and the daily demons they fight. This book is raw, be prepared for some graphic realities of an addicts life and the tragedy that consumes them. Amazing story of relentless hope and survival.

Mark’s book takes you on his chilling Road trip through hell with a killer by his side. Mark’s writing style is explicitly descriptive leading you with his words in such a way that you are feeling every emotion he is going through. He has you feeling the painful symptoms of withdrawal from heroin, feeling the throbbing pain in his infected leg, crying from the frustration of how to get out of his seemingly insurmountable and trapped situation. Mark will also have you smiling in spite of yourself with his sense of humor that comes out when you least expect it.
As Mark’s mother, I can tell you that Mark has turned his life around and is now welcomed back into the loving arms of his family. His life is now an inspiration through the sharing of his story so that others can overcome the steel grips of addiction. “As long as there is breath there is hope!
