Did its job.

I had to purchase this book for a class and while the book served its purpose in that class admirably, I can't say that I'm a fan of the writing contained therein.

Peirce is good at that

If you are in the business of total understanding you must read this book. If you are in the business of forgiving you must read this book! It isn't a book. If I wrote "Aisle by et 4 too hornet dollies" you may consider this syntactic nonsense, but, read it out loud to a blind person and it would read to his/her ears ; "I'll buy it for two hundred dollars". One must understand what signs are as well as what they mean. Peirce is good at that.
